Emma has shown her support to World Ovarian Cancer Day by wearing a white rose to mark the occasion.

Ovarian Cancer Action handed out 33,000 white roses – one for every woman living with the disease in the UK – with a symptoms card attached, highlighting the four main symptoms of ovarian cancer (increased abdominal size and persistent bloating, persistent pelvic and abdominal pain, unexplained change in bowel habits and difficulty eating and feeling full quickly, or feeling nauseous).

Commenting on the campaign, Emma, whose mum is a survivor of ovarian cancer, said:

“It was great to receive my rose from Ovarian Cancer Action and to mark World Ovarian Cancer Day. The charity has handed out 33,000 white roses with a symptoms card attached – 82 per cent of women do not know the symptoms and I hope this will make a difference for women to know the signs.

“A woman dies every 2 hours in the UK from ovarian cancer, and the UK has one of the worst survival rates in Europe. My mum is a survivor of this horrific cancer, and was not aware of the symptoms, so I know how important it is to know them; increased abdominal size and persistent bloating, persistent pelvic and abdominal pain, unexplained change in bowel habits and difficulty eating and feeling full quickly, or feeling nauseous.

“I hope by raising awareness of the symptoms, women can be diagnosed more quickly and we can help save lives.”
