Emma Reynolds, Labour MP for Wolverhampton North East has called on Parliament to lead by example on parental leave. Emma went on BBC Daily Politics earlier this week with her 9 month old son Theo to talk about the need for Parliament to set an example and introduce a formal system of parental leave.

Emma said, “At the moment maternity leave is arranged by the party whips but this system lacks public transparency. I am supporting cross-party proposals for MPs who go on parental leave to be able to vote by proxy. I spoke in the debate about this in the House of Commons on Thursday and I have also written about the issue for the Express and Star and you can read about my story, and learn  more about my campaign for better maternity and paternity arrangements here: https://tinyurl.com/yb9u9tuy.”

Do you have a view on what arrangements should be available in these circumstances? I want to hear from you. You can email me at:
