On 18 October, anti-slavery day Emma did an interview on BBC Radio WM to highlight the horrific crime of human trafficking.

The following weekend, Emma joined Soroptimists International Wolverhampton branch to highlight their campaign – “Stop the Trafficking, Stop the Tears, Free Them from their Tormented Years”. These poignant words were written by a member of Soroptimist International at the outset of their campaign against human trafficking in 2008.

The teardrop represents the suffering of those women and children who are trafficked, exploited and abused across the world, including in our local communities.

Emma said, “As an active campaigner against human trafficking, I was delighted to join the Soroptimists at their stall in the Mander Centre to raise awareness about one of the most brutal crimes against humanity.”

“Human trafficking is modern day slavery. Criminal gangs treat children and adults like commodities.”

“I am Vice Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Human Trafficking and the Purple Teardrop campaign has my complete support.”
