Emma criticises Boundary Commission proposal to separate Wednesfield from Wolverhampton
The Boundary Commission submitted their revised boundary proposals on Tuesday 16 October. The new boundaries would split Wolverhampton into two new seats, Wolverhampton West and Wolverhampton East and would move the wards of Wednesfield South and Wednesfield North into the new seat of Walsall West.
These proposals would divide Wolverhampton North East constituency into three different parts:
· Oxley and Bushbury North would go into Wolverhampton West
· Bushbury South & Low Hill, Fallings Park and Heath Town would go into Wolverhampton East
· Wednesfield North and Wednesfield South would go into Walsall West
Emma criticised the Boundary Commission proposals and said:
“I am opposed to the Boundary Commission proposals which would separate the two Wednesfield wards from Wolverhampton, moving them into a new constituency, Walsall West. The Wednesfield area has a strong historic basis and tradition. Given that the Wednesfield area also stretches into the Council wards of Heath Town and Fallings Park, the Boundary Commission proposals also fail to keep Wednesfield together with some parts of Wednesfield in the new constituency of Wolverhampton East and other parts being put into Walsall West.
“I have received feedback from residents who are opposed to these changes and I will work closely with them to make a submission to the Boundary Commission before their December deadline.”
