Emma Questions Prime Minister about NHS

Emma in the Chamber

At Prime Minister's Questions this week, Emma asked the Prime Minister about his recent statements on the NHS:

"Last week the
Prime Minister told the House that people here are twice as likely to die from a heart attack as people in France, but is not the truth that survival rates are improving, we will have a lower death rate than France by next year, and we have record levels of satisfaction with the NHS? When will he stop talking down the NHS and distorting the figures?"

The Prime Minister was not able to give a satisfactory reply.

"I am concerned that he appears to be talking down our NHS and talking down the good work that NHS staff have achieved over the last ten years. Of course we want to see improvements wherever possible, but when patient satisfaction is at an all time high the Prime Minister needs to listen to what people who actually use the NHS think."
