Emma Reynolds MP for Wolverhampton North East visits Nepal

Gurkha

In August, Emma Reynolds MP worked voluntarily for VSO (Voluntary Services Overseas) in Nepal. Her work focussed on promoting improvements to girls' education. Emma met the county's President, Education Minister, Foreign  Minister and Defence Minister. She also helped VSO and other charities to bolster their campaigning activities.

Whilst in Nepal, Emma visited the Gurkha regiment in Pokhara and saw first hand how they recruit new Gurkha soldiers into the British Army. Traditionally Gurkhas come from the hills of Nepal and have been recruited to serve in the British Army for almost 200 years.

Emma has written an article about her work in Nepal and the struggle to change girls' education. Read Emma's article here
