On Thursday evening, local MP Emma Reynolds joined students and staff at the University of Wolverhampton Student Union for a ‘Question Time’ style debate with Paul Uppal MP, Jane Nelson, Pro Vice Chancellor of the University and Ken Harris, President of Wolverhampton Students.
During the debate, many policy areas were discussed including the local economy, student fees and university funding, and the job market for young people and graduates.
Speaking after the event, Emma Reynolds said:
“It’s always a pleasure to participate in events at Wolverhampton University and I enjoyed the well informed debate we had this evening. Times are hard at the moment for many young people in our society, including graduates. I’ve spoken to lots of people who feel they have been letdown by a system which is supposed to offer opportunities for them. It’s therefore great that we had such a good turnout tonight to discuss national and international issues and hear a wide range of people’s opinions, arguments and solutions.”
“I would like to thank all the lecturers, students and support staff at Wolverhampton University who have given me a warm welcome and hope I can be back again in the future to carry on the debate.”
