Emma showed her support for British aerospace during a speech on Tuesday at the launch of the ‘flying forward’ campaign, an initiative launched by the trade body ADS to promote the British aerospace industry.

As chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on aerospace, Emma spoke of the valuable contribution the aerospace industry makes to the British economy, noting that the sector is directly and indirectly responsible for 360,000 jobs across the UK and is worth £23 billion per year to the UK economy.

Speaking during the event in the House of Commons, Emma said: “The contribution the aerospace industry makes to our economy and to people’s lives and communities, especially in my constituency of Wolverhampton North East, is invaluable. The aerospace sector provides jobs and employment for 360,000 people across the UK and is the largest of its type in Europe and the second only to the United States worldwide.”

“As chair of the new All Party Parliamentary Group on aerospace it gives me great pleasure to support the ‘flying forward’ campaign. Over the coming weeks and months, the APPG will be doing all we can to remind the government that we cannot take for granted the success of the aerospace sector in the UK. We need to ensure that the industry is not neglected and that adequate funding continues to be made available to support crucial research and development programmes which will ensure that the industry remains strong now and in the future.”
