Emma thanks Unite workers at Goodyear for donation to Compton Hospice
Emma Reynolds, MP for Wolverhampton North East and Shadow Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, has thanked Unite workers at Goodyear for raising £2,500 to help the Compton Hospice shop in Wednesfield after their stock was damaged in a recent fire. The shop was the victim of an arson attack last month, losing £3,000 in stock and costing a further £5,000 to repair. The donation came from the Unite Charity Fund from the Goodyear factory in Wolverhampton.
Emma said “It’s really fantastic and impressive that Unite members have raised this money so quickly and they have given so generously to Compton Hospice. This is especially remarkable given the threat the Goodyear workers are currently facing to their own jobs. I am struck by the their continued commitment to give so generously to charitable causes, even at a time when they must be worrying about their own futures.”
“I have also been pleased to see how the people of Wednesfield have rallied around after the terrible arson attack on the shop, and I would like to thank all the other residents in the area who have continued to make donations.”
