The first engine won’t come off the production line until next year but the new Jaguar Land Rover engine factory on the i54 site is already creating job opportunities for people across the Black Country and Staffordshire.Emma toured the plant on the border of Wolverhampton and South Staffordshire which when operational will employ a total of 1,400 people – including apprentices, skilled engineers and office staff. JLR has committed to try and recruit as many people from the local area as possible and is working with schools and colleges in the region.

Emma said;”I have visited the JLR engine plant during many phases of the development and I was delighted to visit again as they launch their recruitment drive. It is a very impressive state of the art facility.

“The i54 site will provide a significant boost to the local economy and investment from Jaguar Land Rover will benefit the people of Wolverhampton and the entire region.

“1,400 jobs is simply fantastic news for local people. The benefit to the city from this investment will be significant and is a welcome boost at a time when unemployment is a real problem in Wolverhampton.”
