Emma Reynolds, Labour MP for Wolverhampton North East and Shadow Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, was delighted to welcome three young apprentices, Jack Timms, Martin Flavin and Lee Sproson to Parliament last week. They work at UTC Aerospace Systems in her constituency.

The apprentices attended an event hosted by Emma in Parliament and sponsored by UTC to celebrate apprenticeships in the aerospace sector. It was attended by over 70 apprentices from different aerospace companies across the country with MPs and others having an opportunity to meet them and learn more about what they do. Emma also spoke at the event.

Speaking after the event, Emma said: “Aerospace is a hugely important industry to both Wolverhampton and the UK. It is welcome that the industry is building for its future by taking on so many highly talented apprentices, including in my own constituency.

“I was delighted to meet Jack, Martin and Lee. I was fascinated to hear about the apprenticeships they are undertaking and their exciting plans for the future. I would like to see schools do more to promote apprenticeships to young people.

“I hosted this event, alongside UTC, to highlight the importance of apprenticeships in the aerospace industry. The British aerospace industry is the largest in Europe and second only to the USA in the world. In Wolverhampton and the Black Country, apprentices like Jack, Martin and Lee help design and manufacture world beating products.”
