Emma welcomes Wolverhampton school children to Parliament
Emma Reynolds MP has welcomed dozens of local school children on visits to Westminster. Two groups of year 9 pupils from Heath Park Business and Enterprise College spent a day with the House of Commons authorities learning about many aspects of parliamentary life. The pupils learnt how parliamentary bills have to pass through both the House of Commons and the House of Lords and progress to be given royal assent to become law.
Year 6 pupils from St Paul’s Primary School in Pendeford enjoyed an end of year trip to London in celebration of their highest ever SATs results. The headteacher, Jane Morris, and the children were delighted to tour Westminster and meet Emma as part of their day out.
After their visits Emma said: “I really enjoyed welcoming the school pupils from St Paul’s and Heath Park to Parliament.”
“I explained to them my role and responsibilities as their MP. I gave them an idea of how I divide my time between Parliament and my constituency.”
“I hope they gained a better understanding of how Parliament works and that they thoroughly enjoyed the historic surroundings”
