Labour candidate, Emma Reynolds, meets Sikh community to discuss Sikh Manifesto
Labour’s parliamentary candidate for Wolverhampton North East, Emma Reynolds, is meeting with members of the Sikh community at Well Lane Gurdwara on Wednesday 1 April.Emma, who is seeking re-election after 5 years as the MP for the area, is meeting members of the Sikh community to listen to their concerns ahead of the general election. The Sikh Federation has produced a Sikh manifesto which outlines specific concerns that the community has.
Emma said: “I have worked closely with the Sikh community over the last five years that I have represented Wolverhampton North East in Parliament. I frequently attend both of the Gurdwaras, Sikh temples, in the area – on Cannock Road and Well Lane – as well as other temples in the city.”
“I am delighted to meet members of the community in the first week of the election campaign to discuss their concerns and the Sikh Federation’s manifesto. They raise a number of issues, such as the respect of the turban and other articles of the Sikh faith, which I have worked with the community on during my time as the MP.”
“The Sikh community make a huge contribution to the economy and society here in Wolverhampton.”
“I also look forward to attending and speaking at the Well Lane Sikh temple this Sunday at the start of the annual Vaisakhi procession between the Wednesfield and Willenhall temples.”
