Labour Candidate, Emma Reynolds, has taken part in the Vaisakhi procession from Wednesfield to Willenhall. Vaisakhi is one of the most important festivals in the Sikh calendar. The festival celebrates the foundation of the Khalsa (the Order of the Pure Ones) by the tenth guru, Guru Gobind Singh.
Emma said “I was delighted to take part in the procession from the Well Lane Gurdwara in Wednesfield to the Willenhall Gurdwara, and the rest of the Vaisakhi celebrations. I have attending this event for a number of years, and always find it to be joyous and colourful.”
“The Sikh community makes a fantastic contribution to Wolverhampton. These festivities have a long tradition in the city, and by celebrating and sharing our festivals and cultures we can promote community harmony and demonstrate a firm commitment to making Wolverhampton a vibrant area to live and work”
“As the Member of Parliament for the past five years, I have supported the Sikh community in Wolverhampton and am looking forward to celebrating Vasaikhi again on 3 May in West Park.”
