Emma attended the Workers' Memorial Day service in Wolverhampton (28 April 2009). There was a wreath laying ceremony by local trade union branches and a short service by Industrial Chaplain, Rev. Ruth Reynolds-Tyson (pictured with Emma here).

In Britain last year, 229 workers were killed in their workplace. 18 of the deaths were people from the West Midlands. At the service, 18 pairs of shoes represented those who passed away.

The annual event is organised by Wolverhampton, Bilston & District Trades Union Council & Black Country Urban Industrial Mission.
