Emma has urged the government to extend the deadline for voter registration to ensure that everyone can have their say on this important issue.

Emma said, “Our EU membership makes us stronger, safer and better off. The Labour party is calling on everybody who cares about our future prosperity to vote remain on 23 June.

“The original deadline to register to vote was midnight last night. Tens of thousands of people were trying to register when the voter registration site crashed last night. Through no fault of their own they were unable to register to take part in the referendum.

“This is such an important decision for our country that everyone who wants to exercise their right to vote should be able to do so. I am calling on the government to quickly amend the law to ensure that those people who were unable to register last night are able to have their say.”
