On Friday 3rd June, Emma Reynolds MP for Wolverhampton North East, joined the Labour In For Britain bus visiting sites across the West Midlands campaigning for Britain to vote to remain in the European Union on 23rd June.

Emma was joined by former Foreign Secretary David Miliband, Alan Johnson MP, Liam Byrne MP and Neena Gill MEP on the tour, which visited what will be a new HSBC national head office based in Birmingham. The 9.2 acre site in Birmingham’s city centre is predicted to bring £121 million per year and 1,000 jobs to the city.

The bus went on to visit St Peter’s College and the Ramgarhia Sikh Temple in Birmingham. Emma said, “Today was a great opportunity to speak with people about the benefits of the EU. Our membership strengthens our security, increases our prosperity and ensures our voice is heard in the world’s largest trading bloc.

“The new HSBC head office will be of great benefit to the West Midlands region, delivering more jobs and opportunities to those living here. Britain is a world leader in financial services. This is in large part due to our membership of the European Union. HSBC are investing in Britain but have warned that 20% of British jobs within their banking and markets division will be at risk if we leave the EU.

“This has been a great opportunity to get out there and speak to people in the West Midlands about their views on the EU and Britain’s role in the world. I believe that we are safer, stronger and better off being a part of the European Union”.
