Emma calls on the government to properly fund West Midlands Police
Emma Reynolds, Labour MP for Wolverhampton North East has criticised the government for it’s cuts to Police funding. Emma said, “This government continues to deny the Police the resources they need to best fight crime.
“West Midlands Police’s grant has faced years of cuts. The central government grant for West Midlands Police has fallen by £145 million since 2010, and the number of police officers has been cut by 2,000. At the same time the latest figures showing a 14 per cent increase in one year in recorded crime.
“I know from a recent survey I conducted of my constituents views that they want the government to give more money to our Police so that they can better fight crime. The government needs to reverse course and start giving West Midlands Police the resources it needs.”
Do you have a view on how the police are funded? I want to hear from you.
