Emma Reynolds denounces UKIP for deal with Holocaust denying and sexist party
Emma Reynolds, Labour MP for Wolverhampton North East and Shadow Housing Minister, has criticised UKIP for doing a political deal in the European Parliament with a Polish party which denies that the Holocaust happened.Nigel Farage’s Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy group recruited the Polish party’s MEP, Robert Jaroslaw Iwaszkiewicz, to maintain about £1m a year in funding. The group received €2.6m (£2.1m) in 2013 from the European Parliament.
Iwaszkiewicz is a member of the Polish Congress of the New Right whose leader Janusz Korwin-Mikke has called for the vote to be taken away from women, has claimed that the difference between rape and consensual sex is “very subtle” and said that Adolf Hitler was “probably not aware that Jews were being exterminated.”
Emma said “People in Wolverhampton who are tempted to vote UKIP should know about the disgraceful political deals they are doing in Brussels with a Holocaust-denying party. What’s even more shocking is that the reason they are forming this alliance is to get their hands on taxpayer’s money.
“It beggars belief and is disgraceful that UKIP is doing a grubby deal with extremists in order to get more money.
“Nigel Farage and all his UKIP MEPs should be ashamed of themselves. People deserve to know what the party is willing to do to get more funding.”
