Emma Reynolds, MP for Wolverhampton North East, has become Shadow Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government. The appointment was confirmed by Harriet Harman, acting Leader of the Labour Party, following a reshuffle of the Shadow Cabinet.

Emma will now be the chief spokesperson for the Labour Party on all issues relating to Local Government and Communities, including housing, which was her previous shadow ministerial position.

Emma said “I am delighted to have become Shadow Secretary of State. This will be an important and challenging role during the next Parliament given the Tory government’s continued commitment to large cuts in local government spending and services. I already know from my own constituency in Wolverhampton, where the council’s grant from central government has been cut by 51%, the very real problems this is causing for local people.”
