Emma Reynolds MP calls for rebuild of Wolverhampton train station
Labour MP for Wolverhampton North East, Emma Reynolds MP, today called for the Government to look at ways in which Wolverhampton train station could be rebuilt.
Speaking in Parliament, Emma referred to remarks made by the Secretary of State for Transport, Rt Hon Patrick Mcloughlin MP, on a recent visit to the city.
Emma said:
“In an interview with the Express and Star during a recent visit to Wolverhampton, the Transport Secretary described our train station as ‘awful’. As I agree with the Transport Secretary, will the Leader of the House speak to him and asks him what he intends to do about it and will he make a statement to Parliament?”
Speaking after asking her question, Emma said:
“Wolverhampton train station is one of the main gateways to our City. Many of my constituents use the station regularly. I agree with Patrick McLoughlin that the station is awful. Now I want the Government to do something about it.
We need a complete rebuild, not another piecemeal refurbishment. I am also discussing this matter with Wolverhampton City Council, Virgin Trains and Neptune Developments.”
