Emma, this week chaired a meeting of the Aerospace All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) with the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, Vince Cable.

Emma and other members of the Aerospace APPG raised several areas of concern to the aerospace industry with the Business Secretary including skills, incentivising people to study engineering and Government support for research and development.

Speaking after the meeting, Chair of the Aerospace APPG, Emma said:

“It was vitally important to have the opportunity to raise the concerns of the aerospace industry with the Business Secretary.

“In Wolverhampton, the aerospace industry is thriving. It employs hundreds of local people and has recently been taking on new staff. Goodrich and HS Marstons in my constituency are going from strength to strength.

“The Government must continue to offer their support to this vital sector. The British aerospace industry is the largest in Europe and second only to the United States globally.

“The Secretary of State acknowledges many of the concerns we raised and the APPG will maintain pressure on the Government to establish a framework in which the industry can continue to thrive.”
