Emma Reynolds MP meets Jamaican Minister of Finance and Planning in Westminster
Emma was delighted to meet Dr Peter Phillips MP, Jamaican Minister of Finance and Planning. She met him earlier this month with a cross party group of MPs and peers.At the meeting, politicians from different parties also discussed setting up an All Party Parliamentary Group to provide a voice in Parliament for the Jamaican Diaspora in the UK.
During his recent visit, Dr Phillips had meetings with Ministers in London and local representatives in Birmingham.
Emma said; “I was extremely pleased to meet Dr Peter Phillips MP, the Jamaican Minister for Finance and Planning to discuss the close ties between our two countries. The Minister explained the difficult economic situation that Jamaica faces and explained the policies of the relatively new government which took office eighteen months ago.”
“We also discussed plans to set up an All Party Parliamentary Group to consider and highlight issues of concern to the Jamaican Diaspora in the UK.”
“I stressed to the Minister the vital contribution of the British-Jamaican community to Wolverhampton. I look forward to welcoming him to our city on a future visit to the UK.”
