Emma Reynolds welcomes Labour commitment to build a new Wolverhampton railway station
Labour’s parliamentary candidate for Wolverhampton North East and Shadow Housing Minister, Emma Reynolds, has welcomed the Labour pledge to build a new railway station in Wolverhampton. Michael Dugher, Shadow of Secretary of State for Transport, made the commitment while visiting Wolverhampton. He promised that one of his first actions as Transport Secretary would be to approve the loan for the final £20 million needed by Centro and Wolverhampton City Council to fund the project.
Emma, who is seeking re-election as a Member of Parliament, said “I am delighted that a Labour government will make building a new train station in Wolverhampton a top priority. I have been campaigning for this since I was first elected in 2010, and it will be a vital development for the regeneration of the city. There is a powerful case for a new station. It is the first thing many visitors see when they arrive in Wolverhampton. A new station will act as a spur for redeveloping the city centre. The Labour Party will approve the final £20 million for Centro to commence work as soon as possible if we win the election.”
