Emma Reynolds, Labour MP for Wolverhampton North East has toured Alstom’s traincare centre in Oxley on Friday 13 January together with Rob Marris MP and the Mayor of Wolverhampton, Councillor Barry Findlay. Oxley is one of six Alstom traincare centres that maintain the 56-strong Pendolino. Over 200 people work at the site.

Emma met with a number of Alstom staff, including engineering apprentices that work at the site, to learn more about the work they do.

Emma was keen to learn more about the brand new technology that Alstom will bring to the Oxley site this year called TrainScanner. This revolutionary machine makes it possible to determine the status of rolling stock, infrastructure and signalling automatically and identify any areas that require maintenance work. There is only one other TrainScanner in the world, in Manchester.

Emma said: “It’s been excellent to find out more about the work that goes on at the Oxley Traincare Centre. I’ve enjoyed meeting Alstom’s staff, especially the talented young apprentices.

“I’ve been particularly interested to find out Alstom’s plans for the future in Oxley and welcome the introduction of new technology like the TrainScanner to its site here.”
