Emma calls on government to support Carillion employees
Emma Reynolds, Labour MP for Wolverhampton North East, has called on the government to do all it can to support Carillion employees after the Wolverhampton based company entered liquidation today.
In a statement, Emma said:
“This is a dark day for Wolverhampton and the 400 people who work at Carillion’s HQ. I have spoken to the Business Minister this afternoon to raise my concerns. Serious questions need to be answered about the leadership of the company, why they were paid so much and what will be done to help those whose jobs are at risk. The government must also be clear about what it knew about Carillion’s financial difficulties and when it first found out.
“I will be working alongside the other Wolverhampton MPs, the City Council, and the Local Enterprise Partnership to do all that we can to support Carillion employees.”
