Labour MP for Wolverhampton North East, Emma Reynolds, has signed up to the Big Community Switch initiative being promoted by Wolverhampton City Council and is urging all Wolverhampton residents to do so too.The scheme is open to everyone in Wolverhampton. Residents can sign up free of charge and without obligation to express an interest in switching suppliers.

Residents can sign up on line at: www.wolverhampton.gov.uk/energyswitch or by telephoning: 01902 553456 and have until the 8 April to do so. Following this, an auction will take place where energy suppliers will bid for the business of everyone who registers for the scheme. Only after this will the individual be contacted with an offer of an energy tariff based on their usage. Only then will residents choose whether to go ahead and switch their supplier.

Emma Reynolds MP said:
“In a time of ever increasing energy prices and pressure on family budgets, schemes such as the Big Community Switch being promoted by Wolverhampton City Council are an easy way for people to express an interest in switching energy suppliers without having to spend hours trying to understand the differing tariffs that are available.”

“As a Wolverhampton resident, I registered today and I am encouraging other residents to do the same. The more people that register, the better the savings are likely to be.”

“The big six energy suppliers have dominated the market for far too long and it is extremely difficult for people to work out which is the cheapest energy supplier. These energy switching schemes give some power back to the individual and give them the opportunity to potentially save a significant amount of money on their energy bills with little more effort than to express their initial interest by registering.”
